Authorware 4 Authorized
Authorware for Windows and Macintosh is the complete authoring environment for creating and publishing interactive information for CD-ROM and the Internet. Authorware uses icons on a flow line to define what happens for the end-user. This object-oriented
interface lets authors build applications without scripting. Incorporate text, graphics, sound, animation, and digital video to create dynamic, interactive applications. Authoring environments on both Windows and Macintosh platforms make cross-platform de
velopment easy. You can use Authorware to create dynamic learning applications, CD-ROM based magazines, interactive encyclopaedias, help systems and more.
Authorware 4 Authorized is a hands-on, stand-alone course designed to introduce new users to the main features and capabilities of Authorware. You will receive step-by-step instructions for each goal and will apply that information directly to your own, s
imilar tasks. You will learn how to develop linear presentations, quizzes, interactive hypertext, navigation structures, and more. You will also receive a basic introduction to multimedia, review the roles of key members of the multimedia development team
and touch on the software development cycle. After completing Authorware 4 Authorized, you will be able to:
- Develop interactions using Authorware's response types including text entry, keypress, push button, pull-down menu, hot spot, hot object, movable object, and tries limit responses
- Develop paging and navigation structures
- Define and implement hypertext and hyperlinks
- Incorporate multimedia, such as sound and digital video, into
your piece

- Work with the framework and navigate icons
- Import custom buttons through Authorware button editor
- Package program (i.e. create run-time file) and prepare the package for internet delivery

re that can be tapped through use of functions, variables, Xtras, decision loops and conditional responses.
Creating simulations, performance support systems, on the job training, interactive information titles, computer managed instruction, routing systems, and other complex applications requires a more in-depth understanding of Authorware's functionality. The
actual topics covered in Authorware Intermediate depend on the requirements and areas of interest of the participants. Some suggested topics are:
- Create custom variables for data tracking and to control presentation flow
- Set and get values of variables
- Set and get values of variables
- Use system variables to provide additional control such as playing a
sound while dragging an object
- Use conditional branching in response result branches
- Use a slider control to navigate to the middle of a section
- Develop context sensitive help
- Create sequential and random branching using the decision icon
- Create a progress meter
- Develop context sensitive help
